[edit] Description:
Established in 1854, McSorley's Old Ale House is the oldest continuously-operating bar in the United States of America. Women were not allowed in this establishment until August 10, 1970. Yet the bar had been owned for 30+ years at that point by a woman named Dorothy O'Connell Kirwan. Still, to this day, McSorley's is probably the most famous drinking establishment in the United States of America with clientele that come from all over the United States and also Europe. Sawdust on the floor, cheese and crackers, light or dark ale and grumpy bartenders are all part of the decor. McSorley's does not serve hard liquor at all.
